I have heard they have considerably better machines now, but chances are you won’t have them in your rental flat. Just learn to hang your clothes and your life will be a breeze! I have heard that you can purchase better stand-alone tumble dryers – but if you are renting a flat for 2 years, be prepared to have one of the terrible combo dryers! Plus, Scotland is the land of rain. So be prepared to dash outside often to pull your clothes off the line and dry them inside on a clothes drying horse instead!
