An alligator had been lounging in the wash at Lighthouse Inlet on Folly Beach. A contractor corralled an foot, 2-inch alligator on Monday along the inlet beach across from Morris Island, said Dean Harrigal, a S. Department of Natural Resources regional wildlife coordinator. The gator had been sought by DNR, the contractor and Folly Beach police since it was first spotted over the weekend.

It’s a little unusual to find a gator in the inlet between Folly and Morris islands — a few miles and another island away from the Intracoastal Waterway, where they are seen more often, said Ron Russell, a nuisance removal agent.
